Hello!
Before you head off into the weekend, I’m thrilled to share with you that my findings report, Mitigating Vicarious Trauma: Adopting an occupational safety approach, has now been published by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust!
The report can be downloaded here: https://www.churchilltrust.com.au/project/to-explore-best-practices-in-the-mitigation-of-vicarious-trauma-in-trauma-exposed-workforces/
A big thank you to you –
I’ve been astounded by the generosity of time, support, and insights shared with me throughout this project. Your encouragement and interest have meant so much.
In almost every conversation, I’ve been reminded of how many of us have skin in the game. So many of those I spoke with (some of you included) came to champion vicarious trauma prevention from hard-won personal understanding. If not as a trauma-exposed worker, as someone who cares deeply for those who are and the systems and services they uphold.
It’s been a privilege to weave together such brilliant ideas, innovative approaches, thoughtful questions, wise insights, and incredible stories into what I hope is a useful and practical document.
The report is long, yet it feels incredibly short to me. Beneath every bullet point are stories that have deeply moved and motivated me, as well as conversations that challenged and reshaped my thinking about vicarious trauma.
Where to from here –
I’m now transitioning into the work of disseminating these findings and advocating for the implementation of the recommendations made in the report.
I’d be so grateful for your help in circulating the report to relevant networks.
Through this Substack, I’ll continue sharing resources and ideas as I have been. Of course, feel free to unsubscribe at any time if you no longer wish to receive these posts.
Warmly,
Amy
P.S. The real personal highlight of this Fellowship has been these threads of connection. Thank you again for your support and interest in this work.
